Can you sandblast alloy factory rims?

Im planning on repainting my factory jeep rims.. everything says to sand them to get the clear coat off but cant i just sandblast them? Also is there any preferences on paint brands to use for alloy wheels? Im planning a lime green and black ( lime green just an accent)
