Would it look ok to have wedding centerpieces with no flowers? Suggestions?

I'm getting married next December. My colors are brown and green. I don't want to spend a ton on fresh flowers. What do you think about centerpieces incorporating green, brown, and gold ornaments, candles, pine cones and fresh evergreen branches? Would that be wedding-y enough with out traditional flower centerpieces?
